Burned rotis and family strife: a Bhopal man commits suicide and accuses his daughter-in-law in a note

Police stated that Gupta had been troubled for a long time due to his son's ongoing divorce proceedings and related family tensions. Officials confirmed that a handwritten suicide note has been recovered and will be examined as part of the investigation.

A 62-year-old man from Bhopal has allegedly taken his own life, leaving behind a detailed note spanning five pages. In the letter, he accused his daughter-in-law of mentally tormenting him over an extended period. The deceased, identified as Ramesh Chandra Gupta, was discovered at his home on Thursday, according to law enforcement authorities. Officers reached the scene after receiving information and found the lengthy note describing his grievances.

In the note, Gupta claimed that his daughter-in-law consistently subjected him to humiliation and neglect. He alleged that she intentionally served him burnt rotis and excessively watery curry, which he perceived as deliberate acts of disrespect. He wrote that the emotional burden had become unbearable and expressed that he could no longer tolerate the repeated humiliation. His writings, as per police sources, reflected deep emotional distress and a sense of helplessness over his living conditions.

The case is tied to ongoing family conflict. Police officials revealed that Gupta’s son, Pushpendra, is currently contesting a divorce. At the same time, his wife has filed complaints against the family over dowry demands and maintenance. According to ACP Manish Bhardwaj, the household had been experiencing significant strain due to the legal battle and long-standing disagreements between family members.

Authorities confirmed that the suicide note has been seized for further forensic review. They added that legal procedures will proceed after the examination is completed. Meanwhile, Gupta’s body has been sent for post-mortem analysis, following standard investigative protocol.
