At least eight people, including three children and five women, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district after a speeding pickup vehicle crashed into a stationary container truck.
The victims were travelling in the pickup and were returning from a head-shaving (mundan) ceremony held in Prayagraj when the accident occurred near Dorma village on a national highway. The collision was extremely severe, leading to multiple fatalities on the spot.
In addition to those killed, at least 27 people were injured, several of them critically. Emergency teams rushed to the scene soon after receiving information, and the injured were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Preliminary findings suggest that the accident may have been caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel, resulting in the vehicle ramming into the parked container. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
