Did team leaders at TCS Nashik engage in a religious conversion scheme and target women


A major controversy has emerged from the Nashik facility of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), where multiple women employees have alleged prolonged sexual harassment and attempts at forced religious conversion by colleagues, including team leaders. The allegations, spanning nearly two to three years, have led to the registration of several FIRs and the arrest of multiple individuals, while a wider investigation continues.

According to police complaints filed by women aged between 18 and 25, the accused allegedly engaged in acts of molestation, coercion, and inappropriate conduct at the workplace. Some complainants have also alleged that they were subjected to pressure related to religious practices, with claims of attempts to influence or convert them. The incidents are reported to have begun around 2022 and continued over an extended period without effective intervention.

Authorities have confirmed that at least six individuals, including engineers and team leaders, have been arrested so far, while others remain under investigation. The police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by an officer of Assistant Commissioner rank, to examine both technical and physical evidence and establish the full scope of the मामला.

Separate cases have been registered across multiple police stations in Nashik, including serious charges such as rape, molestation, and offences related to hurting religious sentiments. Investigators have indicated that the complaints involve multiple victims and incidents occurring at different work locations within the organisation.

Some complainants have stated that they had earlier approached the company’s human resources department, but no substantial action was taken at the time. This aspect has raised concerns about internal grievance redressal mechanisms and workplace safety protocols within large corporate environments.

TCS, in its official response, stated that it follows a strict zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion. The company confirmed that employees under investigation have been suspended and that it is cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies. Senior leadership has also indicated that an internal probe is underway, with assurances that appropriate action will be taken based on findings.

The मामला has triggered strong political reactions. Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have described the incident in ideological terms, while opposition figures, including leaders from Shiv Sena (UBT), have criticised the company’s response as insufficient and lacking sensitivity. Protests have also been reported in Nashik, with demands for strict action against those involved.

Investigators have also noted that a male employee may have faced similar coercion, indicating that the alleged activities were not limited to women alone. Police are continuing to record statements and examine evidence to determine whether the incidents were isolated or part of a broader pattern.

As the probe progresses, the case has raised wider questions about workplace safety, corporate accountability, and the effectiveness of internal complaint systems in addressing serious allegations over extended periods. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation advances.
