A Delhi judge's final message to his family after his wife disparages his father is impossible to live

The death of Aman Kumar Sharma, a young judicial officer posted in Delhi, has drawn attention after his family alleged that prolonged emotional distress and domestic tensions led to his suicide. According to their account, Sharma had expressed deep anguish in the days leading up to his death, telling his father that continuing life had become unbearable for him.

His family claims that the immediate trigger was an incident in which his wife allegedly insulted his father in his presence, an episode they say he found deeply humiliating and could not cope with. They further alleged that this was not an isolated event but part of ongoing marital discord and mental harassment that had intensified over time. The situation, they claimed, had worsened due to continued disputes within the household, with accusations that external family influences contributed to the strain.

Two days before his death, Sharma reportedly made an emotional phone call to his father, indicating that he no longer wished to live. Alarmed by this, his father travelled to Delhi immediately. However, on May 2, Sharma allegedly died by suicide at his residence, using a shawl in his room. His father later stated that he was present outside at the time and heard arguments inside the house shortly before the incident.

Following his death, Sharma’s body was taken to his hometown in Alwar, where his last rites were performed in the presence of family members and members of the legal community. His family has since demanded a thorough and impartial investigation, asserting that the circumstances surrounding his death warrant scrutiny and accountability.

They have emphasised that the case reflects broader concerns about mental health, domestic conflict, and the pressures faced even by individuals in positions of responsibility. Authorities have begun an inquiry, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
