Actor Aamir Khan is set to marry his partner, Gauri Spratt, at his Mumbai residence this Sunday in a private ceremony attended only by close family members and friends.
The couple will solemnise their marriage under the Special Marriage Act through a registered ceremony. Instead of hosting a lavish celebration, they have chosen to keep the occasion intimate, with a small gathering at Aamir's home following the legal formalities.
Khan, who recently confirmed that the wedding will take place on July 5, said the couple deliberately opted for a simple ceremony surrounded by their loved ones. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the 61-year-old actor said they had no intention of organising a grand celebration.
"It will be a very simple registered marriage at home, with just both the families and really close friends. We both want to keep it very basic," he said.
Aamir publicly introduced Gauri Spratt to the media on his 60th birthday earlier this year, confirming their relationship. Since then, there has been considerable interest in the couple's wedding plans.
Earlier, in an interview with Variety India, Khan confirmed that the two had decided to get married.
"Yes, that is true. But now we both feel we are ready to take our relationship to the next level," he said.
The actor also described the wedding as a natural continuation of their relationship, saying he already considers himself married to Spratt emotionally.
"I am at peace. Gauri and I are serious about each other, and we are in a very committed space. We are partners, we are together. In my heart, I'm already married to her," he added.
Originally from Bengaluru, Gauri Spratt works in the wellness industry and is the mother of seven-year-old Quinn from a previous marriage. She is also the granddaughter of Philip Spratt, the British-born communist who came to India in the 1920s and later became associated with the country's freedom movement.
Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children, Junaid and Ira. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the former couple share a son, Azad.
