Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom has exited Priyanka Chopra’s survival thriller Reset before filming begins. Bloom was also attached to the project as an executive producer, though the reason behind his departure has not been revealed.
Written by Jordan Rawlins, Reset follows Chopra’s character, who wakes up alone in the wilderness with no memory of how she arrived there. She is forced to rely on a stranger for survival, a role that Bloom was originally expected to play. However, the stranger may not be exactly who he claims to be.
According to TMZ, the producers are now looking for Bloom’s replacement, with around three actors reportedly being considered for the part. Chopra is also expected to have a say in choosing her new co-star. The report suggested that the independent film’s prospects could be affected by Bloom’s departure, as the international appeal of both lead actors was reportedly important in securing worldwide distribution.
Director Matt Smukler had previously discussed the decision to cast Chopra and Bloom together. Speaking to Deadline, he said he wanted a pairing where attraction and mistrust could exist naturally at the same time. He also praised the actors for their chemistry and their ability to portray both mutual attraction and deep suspicion.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra is set to appear in SS Rajamouli’s upcoming Telugu epic Varanasi, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film is scheduled for a Sankranti 2027 release and will mark Chopra’s Telugu cinema debut.
The action-adventure film has been co-written by V Vijayendra Prasad and SS Kanchi, with Rajamouli handling the screenplay. KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya are producing the project.
Chopra also has the second season of Prime Video’s Citadel in the pipeline. She will additionally star opposite Russell Crowe in the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Bluefly, directed by Nimrod Antal.
