Actor Yami Gautam Dhar recently discussed the release of her film Nayyi Naveli alongside Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, noting that securing an exclusive release window for a film has become increasingly difficult. In a recent post on X, she thanked audiences for giving her film an opportunity and described releasing it alongside a Rajinikanth-starrer as an honour. Nayyi Navelli hit theatres on October 16, a day after Jailer 2.
Yami shared her thoughts while replying to a social media user who praised Nayyi Navelli but questioned whether its release timing was ideal. The user wrote that the film was good but that its release alongside Jailer 2 was poorly timed.
Responding to the comment, Yami said that finding a release window for just one or two films has become difficult. She added that making a successful film in the current environment is challenging, praised everyone involved for doing their best and expressed gratitude to audiences for giving her film a chance.
She also spoke about her admiration for Rajinikanth, saying that, like millions of others, she was a huge fan of the superstar. Yami described it as an honour for her relatively small film to release alongside his movie and said she was looking forward to watching it herself.
Jailer 2, which released on October 15, has earned more than Rs 475 crore worldwide in five days. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film follows Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, played by Rajinikanth, as he confronts a larger idol-smuggling network connected to the gang he defeated in the 2023 film Jailer.
Meanwhile, Nayyi Navelli marks Tamil filmmaker Balaji Mohan’s debut in Hindi cinema. Yami plays Mohini, a woman whom her new in-laws suspect of being a daayan, or witch. The film has collected nearly Rs 20 crore worldwide and also features Addinath M Kothare, Anurag Thakur, Sunita Rajwar, Mita Vasisth, Aaditya Kulshreshth, Susmita Mukherjee and Prateek Pachori.
